MEET THE AUTHORS
Rémy Marcotte-Collard is a graduate optometrist from the School of Optometry of the University of Montreal. He completed a residency in optometry at the University of Montreal, in the field of specialty contact lenses. He is involved in research in the field of specialty contact lenses and myopia control, a field in which he completed a Master's degree in vision science at the School of Optometry of the University de Montreal, where he co-founded the myopia control clinic. Dividing his time between private practice and theoretical and practical teaching of optometry, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Vision Science where he is working on determining the effect of different optical designs of contact lenses, controlling myopia, on changes in choroidal volume.
Patrick Simard, OD, M.Sc., MBA, FAAO, FBCLA
Dr Patrick Simard is graduated from École d’Optométrie de l’Université de Montréal in 2002 where he also obtained his Master’s Degree in vision’s science on keratoconus research (2006). He also obtained a Master’s Degree of Business Administration in 2010 from HEC Montreal. Dr Simard is in private practice at Clinique d’Optométrie Bélanger and is a clinical instructor and lecturer at Université de Montréal since 2002. He is a Fellow of the AAO and the BCLA. His area of research is on myopia control and scleral lenses.
Mhamed Ouzzani MSc., PhD.
Mhamed is an optometrist graduated from the University of Oran, he is working in private practice at the Ibn Al Haythem center of specialty contact lenses in Algeria, he is a clinical instructor of optometry and contact lenses at the University of Oran, member of the British contact lens association BCLA, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology ARVO, World Council of Optometry WCO and the International Association of Contact Lens Educators IACLE, author of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and speaker in multiple national and international conferences.
He has been involved in several research projects as a research associate at the Contact Lens Clinic, School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, St. Michaels Hospital in Canada, and at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain, winner of several national and international awards and grants.
Mhamed is currently finishing his PhD on orthokeratology and myopia control at Clinique Universitaire de la vision, Université de Montréal.
